The Trailology International Seminar Series, organized through a partnership between Binghamton University, WTN Americas/Pan American Trails, and the Alpine Stewardship Center, serves as the academic centerpiece of the White Mountains Environmental Field School in New Hampshire, USA. Speakers represent disciplines ranging from anthropology and recreation ecology to environmental engineering, network science, governance, conservation biology, adventure studies, and sustainable tourism. Together they explore a simple but profound idea: trails are not merely routes across landscapes, but dynamic socio-ecological systems that connect people, places, and communities.

In 2025, the Trailology Collective commissioned a master's-level Academic Consultancy Training at Wageningen University & Research in the Netherlands to explore how Trailology might be developed as a field of academic study. The outcome was a 65-page report that included a comprehensive review of trail research literature, a case study for how trails can facilitate knowledge exchange, and a roadmap for the future growth of the field. The Natasha Luzhkova Digital Library of Trails Knowledge is an interdisciplinary repository and toolbox for trail researchers, conservationists, and tourism planners. Created to honor the legacy of Russian geographer and trail sustainability researcher Natasha Luzhkova, the library provides access to resources focusing on sustainable trail development, rapid assessment methodologies, and biodiversity preservation.

The Trailology Collective has facilitated several in-person Trailology gatherings. In 2024, the Collective was inaugurated at the Trailology session of the World Trails Conference in Ottawa. In 2025, the leadership committee met to discuss strategy in Budapest, Hungary. In 2026, the Collective facilitated a symposium in Wageningen, Netherlands and organized sessions for the 2026 World Trails Conference (Perth, Western Australia) and the 2026 MMV Conference (Valencia, Spain).
