András Molnár (co-founder) is an associate professor at Pannonia University in Veszprém, Hungary and a senior researcher at HUN-REN SZTAKI Budapest, where he applies his background in computer science and network theory to hiking trail networks. He is also a founding member of MIEF, a new AI ethics forum, and the Pilgrimage Academy.

Shay Rabineau (co-founder and current co-chair) is an associate professor at Binghamton University in New York. His research explores history, politics, and environmentalism. He is the author of the award-winning book Walking the Land: The History of Israeli Hiking Trails. In 2022 he became the first person to circumnavigate the Dead Sea on foot since 1934.

Nat Scrimshaw (co-founder) is the director of the Alpine Stewardship Center and the White Mountains Environmental Field School in New Hampshire, and the chair of the World Trails Network Hub for the Americas. He has long served as a steward of trails and summits including Franconia Ridge and other historic routes.

Martina Sedlakova (co-founder and current co-chair) is a course coordinator, lecturer, and study advisor in the MSc Tourism, Society, Environment at Wageningen University & Research (NL). She is also co-chair of the WTN Trails and Knowledge Task Team and is experienced in international trail development.
